Spica Electrial Pitch System
The Electric Pitch System regulates the angel of the wind turbine blades with high precision to maximize the performance of the wind turbine. The pitch system receives instructions for blade pitch angle from the speed controller of the wind turbine control module.

The key components of the pitch system are based on well proven technology and components from ABB. The worldwide service provided by ABB ensures a reliable source of components and support of the products.
Spica Service Terminal
The Spica Service Terminal is for service personal working on site with wind turbines. It is designed for harsh environment by engineers with long field experiences. The Spica Service Terminal is used for test or reprogramming while working on the wind turbine. It is connected to the controller via a cable with communication and power to minimize failure in test situations. At the backside there is two magnets for easier handling in the nacelle.
Back-up Modul
The Spica Back-up Module uses Ultra Capacitors as energy storage inside the housing. The capacitors are charged in normal operation from an external, regulated DC-power supply. In the event of power loss, the stored capacity of the ultra capacitors become distantly energised and supplies power until they are discharged. Backup time depends on the ultra capacitor’s level of charge and the discharge current. Compared to traditional buffer modules with capacitors the new Spica back-up provides longer back-up times.
Spica Dual Display

The Spica Technology Dual display HMI is designed with wind turbines in mind.

The use of two displays, gives the operator of the turbine two different menus in the menu structure at the same time, e.g. a pressure menu in display A and a service menu in display B.
Spica Grid Simulator
The picture shows a Power Grid Simulator designed for bench testing, featuring all the necessary functions for simulating and testing situations which can arise in scenarios such as a wind turbine connected to the power grid. Some functions are impossible to test on-site, and Spica's Power Grid Simulator is primarily designed for software engineers and developers working with power generating systems, and is therefore not only well suited to the wind turbine industry, but also in many other areas where grid testing is essential, e.g. sub-station and electricity meter production.

Spica Control System

The Spica Control System is designed for wind turbines. The Spica control system can be downgraded form full scale MW turbine controller to a small KW turbine controller with a simple control system.

Lifetime prediction

Lifetime prediction is a hot issue in wind turbines business. Spica has been working for some time to develop life time prediction for several of our products. The Ultra capacitor Backup module for pitch system is one of the products were we are testing this product.

Condition monitoring for Hydraulic

Hydraulic are often a part of a safety loop. At Spica technology we are developing a system to monitor the hydraulic system to be able to set a warning before the system brakes down. By monitoring temperature, level, pressure, oil and other parameters we are able to predict if something are about to go wrong.

Electrical Turn key Solution

Spica Technology is able to deliver a complete electrical Turn Key Solution for wind turbines and wave energy. A Turn Key Solution is electrical panels, cables, controller and software including drawings and source code for the software.
