  • Back-up Modul Back-up Modul

The Spica backup module uses Ultracapacitors to store energy storage. The capacitors are charged during normal operation via an external, regulated DC power supply. In the event of power loss, the backup module supplies power until the capacitors are discharged. Backup time depends on the Ultracapacitor’s charge and the discharge current. Compared to traditional buffer modules with capacitors, the new Spica backup module provides longer backup times.

  • Power Panels for MW wind turbine. Power Panels for MW wind turbine.

This is a Power Panel for a 1MW stall regulated wind turbine. Designed and manufactured at our factory in Silkeborg.

  • Shadow detection system Shadow detection system

Developed entirely by Spica Technology. The customer asked Spica Technology to develop a solution from concept to final product. The customer stipulated that the final product should be DIN rail mountable and be powered by a 24 VDC supply. Controller and sensor delivered as a complete kit, including cables and connectors.

  • Brake release detector Brake release detector

Spica Technology helped to develop this product as part of a close cooperation with the customer. It is used on large disk brakes to detect brake release and brake pad wear. Spica Technology manufactures and tests several thousand brake release detectors each year.

  • Power plant controller Power plant controller

Specially developed for one of the largest wind turbine manufactures in the world. The assignment was to fit pre-defined PLC equipment into a very limited space. The customer specified a 19" rack system to fit the rest of its product range. Since the PLC equipment was too wide to fit into the rack at the front, we developed a special frame to take advantage of the full depth instead. This not only gave enough room for the PLC equipment, but also for other items such as fibre optic converters. Spica Technology developed and produced four of these panels for an offshore wind farm.

  • Temperature sensor Temperature sensor

The temperature sensor gives a frequency output relative to the temperature. The output is a standard PNP signal which can be connected directly to normal digital input – No high speed input needed, since the frequency is under 100 Hz. The frequency change is 0.25 Hz/C°, with an offset of 68.25 Hz at 0 C°.

  • Spica Service Terminal Spica Service Terminal

The Spica Service Terminal is made for wind turbine service personal working on site. It is specially designed by engineers with expert know-how and made to operate in harsh environments. The Spica Service Terminal is used for test or reprogramming while working on the wind turbine. It connects to the controller via a cable with communication and power to minimise failure in test situations. Equipped with two magnets on the rear for easier handling in the nacelle.

  • Battery backup system Battery backup system

Developed and manufactured by Spica Technology. This is a specially designed battery backup system. These units are designed to fit into an existing controller system. Easy to replace battery. Waterproof connection and high capacity. Currently used on offshore machinery.

  • Spica Dual Display Spica Dual Display

The Spica Technology Dual display HMI is ideal for wind turbines.

The dual display enables the wind turbine operator to see two different menus at the same time, e.g. a pressure menu in display A and a service menu in display B.

The operator can monitor parameter changes in one display while entering parameters in the other. In terms of servicing or troubleshooting, more data can be displayed simultaneously from two separate locations from the menu system.

  • Spica Electrial Pitch System Spica Electrial Pitch System

The Electrical Pitch System regulates the angle of the wind turbine blades with high precision to maximise wind turbine efficiency. The pitch system receives instructions for blade pitch angle from the speed controller in the wind turbine control module.

The key components of the pitch system are based on well-proven technology and components from ABB. The worldwide service provided by ABB ensures a reliable source of components and support of the products.

  • Spica Grid Simulator Spica Grid Simulator

Power Grid Simulator is designed for bench testing. It has all of the necessary functions for simulating and testing any possible situation and scenario, such as a wind turbine connected to the power grid. Some functions are impossible to test on-site. The Spica Power Grid Simulator is primarily designed for software engineers and developers working with power generating systems, and is therefore ideal for the wind power industry and in many other areas where grid testing is essential, e.g. substations and electricity meter production.
